DS1307 IC is a low-power real-time clock (RTC) integrated circuit designed to provide accurate time and calendar data for embedded and electronic systems. It communicates through the I²C serial interface, allowing simple integration with microcontrollers and digital devices.
The IC keeps track of seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year, including automatic adjustment for months with fewer than 31 days and leap-year correction. With an external backup battery connected, it continues timekeeping even when the main power supply is removed.
